Independent Street is thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new series of Artisan Markets in the heart of Glossop, starting this December.
These vibrant events will be held in the newly renovated Glossop Market Hall, a much-loved local landmark that has been beautifully updated to reflect the town’s proud heritage and promising future.
The market will debut on December 5th, bringing a festive flair and a celebration of local talent to one of Derbyshire’s most characterful market towns. Confirmed dates running up to Christmas are:
Friday, December 5th & Saturday, December 6th
Friday, December 12th & Saturday, December 13th
Friday, December 19th
Market Opening Hours:
Fridays: 12 noon – 8pm (perfect for after-work browsing and festive evenings)
Saturdays: 10am – 4pm (ideal for daytime visitors and family outings)
Each market will feature nearly 50 artisan stalls located just outside the Market Hall, with an additional 18 stalls inside the newly refurbished venue. The Hall now includes modern amenities and a brand-new entrance that directly connects to Glossop’s bustling High Street, making it more accessible and inviting than ever.
Expect an eclectic mix of independent traders, local makers, and creative artisans offering everything from handcrafted gifts and homeware to artisan food and festive treats. There will also be live music from local performers and free children’s craft activities, creating a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere for all.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be launching these new monthly markets in Glossop. The town’s new Market Hall is a shining example of how investment in traditional market towns can help revitalise communities and support independent traders. Its ethos of championing small businesses perfectly reflects our own mission at Independent Street. Events like this are a great way to bring the community together, boost footfall, and connect visitors with local businesses. We can’t wait to see you all there.”
