Independent Street’s Poynton Artisan Market launch was everything we hoped – and planned.
The event was a complete sell-out from our point of view, with all trader spots booked up – even after we increased the capacity TWICE.
More importantly, it was a roaring success from our traders’ point of view too, with a fabulous turn out and several sell-outs there, too. Note to potential stallholders – please book early to attend our events. Don’t miss your chance! And visitors, if you’re tempted by tasty treats, snap them up there and then! Popping back later may not be an option…
The day was also a cracker for our hosts, Poynton Sports Club. The club held their own Open Day to show off the space and facilities to hundreds of new faces. Visitors were impressed by the Sports Club’s array of activities, which include lacrosse, darts, bowling, tennis, junior football and cricket.
Independent Street’s Independent Treats
Poynton’s Perfect
Just last week, Independent Street came to another brand-new spot. Already helping to display the delights of several Cheshire and Lancashire towns and villages, we can now add Poynton to our ever-growing list of favourite places!
Poynton, if you don’t already know, is a pretty village in northeast Cheshire, nestled handily between Macclesfield and Stockport. Neighbouring villages and towns include Wilmslow, Woodford, Bramhall, Hazel Grove, Prestbury and Bollington, too. With a village centre and hight street blessed with truly superb independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, Poynton’s a picture-perfect Independent Street venue and we’re thrilled to bring people here.
Shop Local, Support Local, Play Local
Every Independent Street event is specifically and carefully planned to create a buzz about the place; to make our host town a real destination. That’s not just for the day – it’s also for the future. The local residents flood to support their town or village and love to find new favourites, too. However, we also encourage visitors from further afield, boosting footfall yet further.
A Great Day Out for Everyone
Independent Street is different. We don’t just book out a few market stalls and post a couple of social media ads. Our events are painstakingly planned to deliver the best occasion for everyone. We collaborate and consult with the council, the traders, local residents, and the surrounding independent shops and eateries. Then, we work to put together a real event, an occasion.
We created Independent Street to champion local independent businesses and producers. We take that responsibility seriously. What does that mean for everyone involved? Well, we carefully curate our traders and artisans to ensure superb quality and variety for visitors. We prioritise marketing, so we have lots and lots of visitors for our traders. That marketing also promotes the town itself, so our visitors explore further. Independent Street events are a great day out.
More than a Market
Our market visitors can learn more about the traders as well as the local indies. They can learn about the origins and provenance of food, talk to makers and bakers, try new tastes or rediscover old favourites – often with a brand-new twist. We specially curate our events to include lots of unique items and award-winning goods. Let’s just say the vibe is eclectic – and also inspiring.
What else makes Independent Street events different? In addition to the – as above – eclectic and inspiring crafters, traders, and food and drink producers, we provide lots of extras. At Poynton, we also had live music and wandering magicians. We also understand that day’s out with children are often expensive, and that happy children mean happy parents. With this in mind, we supplied a sand art workshop, glitter art tattoos and face painting, as well as a free children’s craft area. As a mum herself, Lisa loves giving something back to fellow parents looking to entertain their little ones and enjoy their own day out.
A Great Success for Everyone
Director, Lisa, had this to say:
“WOWZERS!!! Thank you, Poynton! What an incredible launch. Huge thanks to Jane, James, and the whole team at Poynton Sports Club for asking us to deliver this event for the community. We had a blast with numerous sellouts and lots of incredible feedback. There was a real buzz about town, too, and we’d like to thank the whole Poynton community for coming out in force to support this new event for the town. Thanks to our musician Tommy, our craft tables - Create Yourself, Sand Art and Glitter Bees - for ensuring there was lots to do, and the magic tricks of Paul David. Massive thanks to all of our stall holders for joining us. The level of talent on show today was incredible. The sports activities were a real hit, too, so we are delighted to announce this as a monthly feature courtesy of Poynton Sports Club. We are looking forward to next month already - pop Sunday, August 18 in your diaries. Until then, keep supporting your wonderful shops and independents in Poynton. You are so lucky to have such a vibrant and welcoming village centre. See you soon!”
